National Minimum Wage increases on 1st October 2011

A quick reminder for all you business owners out there with employees that on 1st October 2011 the National Minimum Wage is increasing. The rate will increase from £5.93 per hour to £6.08 per hour which applies to anyone over the age of 21. The increase also applies to younger workers, with 16 and 17 year olds seeing an increase from £3.64 to £3.68 an hour, and 18 to 20 year olds from £4.92 to £4.98 per hour.

Summary

  • Employees 21+ years old = £6.08 per hour
  • Employees 18-20 years old = £4.98 per hour
  • Employees 16-17 years old = £3.68 per hour
  • Apprentices under 19 years old = £2.60 per hour
